When I heard Whakataurangi Ake, first I was surprised, then moved. I burst into tears like a fool cause it sounds like the earth is singing to me. Of course I don't know what's being said, but I don't care, I know how it feels. Then of course I get the goff that I came for and it's everything.

Ian Revel, the lead vocalist, always sounds as if he's somewhere between rage and tears. The music is atmospheric and emotive, the lyrics are intense and thoughtful, and Revel's singing will at times make your eyes tear up from human sympathy. And the sheer amount of styles and influences on this album mean that there is something to discover for any music fan.
